If you’re considering getting a home EV charger installed, you probably have a few questions. We’d like to answer as much as possible up front.

How do I get started?

Use our simple EV charger wizard to check we’re installing in your area, and to review our packages. Once you’ve selected the package that works best for you, you’ll be able to proceed to order and checkout online – and either make an upfront payment by credit or debit card and/or set up a Direct Debit with our customer support team.

What areas of the UK do you cover?

We install across England, Wales and mainland Scotland. We don’t cover Northern Ireland or any islands. Our EV charging calculator will check your postcode for you, if you’re not sure.

How much does installation cost?

Standard installation costs are already included in all of our packages.

Standard installation means:

  • Up to 15m of cable between your meter/fuse box and charger
  • No groundworks
  • Fixing of charger to a wall or suitable permanent structure of a height between 1m and 1.4m
  • Connecting to your electrical supply (electricity meter or fuse box)

Installations that require works outside of these parameters will typically incur additional costs, although we’ll always specify this before installation commences.

What’s the lead time?

We aim to complete all installations within two to three weeks of order, although the lead time can vary, and is dependent on engineer availability, demand in your local area and the specific requirements of your installation. Our team will contact you after purchase to complete our pre-install survey and to arrange an installation date that suits you.

What do I need to do?

If possible, you should clear the area where we’ll be running any cables, especially around your fuse board(s) and electricity meter. Do make sure any animals (especially dogs) are kept safely away from the installation site whilst your charger is being installed.
If you have any questions or require any reasonable adjustments prior to, or on the day of your installation, please feel free to get in touch with our team.

What should I expect on installation day?

All we need from you is access to your power supply and a person over the age of 18 to be present—then you can sit back and let us handle the rest.

Once set up, our engineer will also test the fitting and ensure everything is left tidy. Our partners are all fully qualified electricians, and have years of experience of installing home, workplace and public EV chargers. They’ll provide full compliance verification – meaning they’ll sign off the work to ensure all safety procedures have been followed and your charger will work smoothly and will also provide your electrical certificate for your EV installation.

Is my installation under warranty?

Yes: the warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. During the warranty period, we will refund, repair or replace (at our discretion), at no charge, products or parts of the product or installation which prove defective because of improper materials or workmanship under normal use and maintenance. This will include labour costs to repair or replace the unit / installation at the installation site. Full details on our installation warranty can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

What is a surge protector?

Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) are used to protect electrical installations from dangerous voltages that could damage any electrical equipment connected to the installation, such as computers, televisions and even your EV.

Recently, wiring regulations have changed the UK, requiring new installations to now offer SPDs as an option for all new installation. Find out more about this in our surge protection blog here.
