• What is the Charge Upfront payment option?

  Our Charge Upfront option allows you to pay the full cost of the Ohme Home Pro EV charger, standard installation and ongoing support for a single upfront payment. This option is ideal for those who want to own their charger outright from the outset and avoid ongoing payments.

• What’s included in the price?

  All of our packages include the charger, standard installation costs*, set up and support as standard, as well as three-year device warranty and one-year warranty for all installation works. You’ll have the option to add a Surge Protection Device at checkout, for an additional fee. You will also have access to our dedicated UK-based technical support team who will help you resolve any technical questions you may have.

   

  *Standard installation is defined as installations where: up to 15m of cable is required between your meter/fuse box and charger; no groundworks are required; the charger can be fixed to a wall or permanent structure at a height of between 750mm and 1200mm; we can connect the charger to your electrical supply. Installations that require works outside of these parameters will typically incur additional costs, although we’ll always specify this before installation commences.

• What are the Charge12 and Charge36 payment options?

  The Charge12 and Charge36 options allow you to pay for our Ohme Home Pro EV charger and installation service over 12 or 36 equal monthly Direct Debit payments. This option is ideal for those who want to avoid a large upfront cost, and instead pay monthly.

• Are the Charge12 and Charge36 plans a finance agreement? Will they be added to my credit file?

  No, we’re not offering EV chargers on finance. By signing up to either our Charge12 or Charge 36 plan, you’re agreeing to pay us for a service: supplying and installing your EV home charger. We’ll own the charger during the minimum term of your agreement (either 12 or 36 months, depending on the option), and ownership of the charger is transferred to you at the end of your agreement. We’ll need to do a soft check of your credit rating to ensure the product is suitable, and to check your identity. But the Charge12 and Charge36 plans won’t show on your credit file as credit agreements.

• How do I sign up to get an EV charger?

  Use our simple EV charger wizard to check we’re installing in your area, and to review our packages. Once you’ve selected the package that works best for you, you’ll be able to proceed to order and checkout online – and either make an upfront payment by credit or debit card and/or set up a Direct Debit with our customer support team.

• What does the installation warranty cover?

  The warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. During the warranty period, we will refund, repair or replace (at our discretion), at no charge, products or parts of the product or installation which prove defective because of improper materials or workmanship under normal use and maintenance. This will include labour costs to repair or replace the unit / installation at the installation site. Full detail on our installation warranty can be found in our Terms and Conditions, here.

• If I sign up to a monthly plan, could my price change during the term?

  No – once you’ve signed up, your monthly price will remain the same for the term you’ve agreed.

• What happens if I move home or want to relocate the charger after it’s been installed?

  That’s no problem. Simply contact us and we can talk you through the process. If you fully own the charger already (meaning you purchased our Charge Upfront option, or you’ve reached the end of your minimum term for our Charge12 or Charge36 options) you can either arrange for your charger to be relocated yourself or we can do that for you, for a fee. Remember though, that if you’re arranging this yourself you should use a qualified electrician. If you’re on a pay monthly plan and still within your minimum term, to maintain your installation warranty we’ll need to undertake any relocation for you, for a fee. Please contact our team to discuss.

   

• What happens if I want cancel the Charge12 or Charge36 plan during the minimum term?

  In this event, you’d need to pay us the remaining monthly payments, as well as a small administration fee.

• I want to take advantage of the £50 Monthly Payment Scheme credit offer. How do I do this?

  Our Monthly Payment Scheme offer allows existing Watson Fuels customers who pay via Monthly Payments for their heating oil to get a £50 credit on their fuel account when purchasing an EV charger from Watson Fuels. The offer is open to new heating oil customers: so, if you’re not yet a member of the Monthly Payment Scheme, you can sign-up for both and save! Simply select this option at checkout and our team will follow up.

  Once the EV charger has been installed at your home and your MPS application is successful you’ll receive a £50 credit in your heating oil account. To qualify for the credit offer, you’ll need to stay signed up to the Monthly Payment Scheme, and continue paying Direct Debits for a minimum of 6 months – if you cancel your MPS account before 6 months you’ll be obliged to pay back the £50 credit when settling your account.

FAQs about installation

• How soon will my new EV charger be installed?

  We aim to complete all installations within 2 to 3 weeks of order, although the lead time can vary, and is dependent on engineer availability, demand in your local area and the specific requirements of your installation. Our team will contact you after purchase to complete our pre-install survey and to arrange an installation date that suits you.

• Who will install my charger?

  We’ve partnered with leading UK installers to offer hassle-free installation of Home EV Chargers across the UK. We’ll confirm your installer shortly after purchase. Our partners are all fully qualified electricians, and have years of experience of installing home, workplace and public EV chargers. They’ll provide full compliance verification – meaning they’ll sign off the work to ensure all safety procedures have been followed and your charger will work smoothly, and will also provide your electrical certificate for your EV installation.

• Can I install the charger myself?

  We’re afraid not. We’d always recommend having an EV charge point installed by a fully qualified electrician. And, as our packages all include the charger, installation and warranty within the price, we’re not offering a self-install EV charger package at this time.

• Which areas of the UK do you cover for installation?

  Our installation partners are installing across England, Wales and mainland Scotland although don’t currently cover Northern Ireland or any islands. To check your area, simply enter your postcode in our handy EV wizard, and we’ll check your postcode and compare packages for you.

• What is standard installation?

  Standard installation is defined as installations where: up to 15m of cable is required between your meter/fuse box and charger; no groundworks are required; the charger can be fixed to a wall or permanent structure at a height of between 1m and 1.4m; we can connect the charger to your electrical supply. Installations that require works outside of these parameters will typically incur additional costs, although we’ll always specify this before installation commences.

• What is a surge protection device or SPD?

  SPDs are used to protect your home electrics from power surges that could damage appliances like computers and televisions. Wiring regulations have changed recently, and it is now recommended that surge protection is fitted on all new home electrical circuits, like your EV charger installation. In order to protect your EV charger from any damage due to a voltage spike, we strongly recommend fitting one, but you have the choice to opt out.

FAQs about the Ohme Home Pro charger

• Is the Ohme Home Pro compatible with my EV?

  The Ohme Home Pro will charge all electric vehicles which use the Type 2 connector. The Ohme mobile app can also connect with your vehicle to obtain more information from your EV, where there is an API available. Ohme API integrations include BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Kia, Nissan, Renault, Tesla, MINI and more.

• How does the Ohme Home Pro’s load balancing work?

  The Ohme Home Pro has dynamic load balancing, a safety feature that reduces the power to your EV charger if there is a large amount of energy being used in your home. A current sensor clamp is provided to measure the electrical demand of the property, or sub-board. The unit will limit the maximum current available to the vehicle to keep the household demand below the set threshold.

• What connection does the Ohme Home Pro use?

  Ohme Chargers use a 4G data connection. The chargers are pre-configured in the factory to talk directly to the Ohme backend server, and enable you to control your charger from the Ohme app. Signal coverage in the UK is generally very good but it’s important to be aware that the unit relies on a mobile phone connection for its smart features. In areas where coverage is known to be unreliable, the smart features of the Ohme unit will also be unreliable. You’ll still be able to use your charger without mobile signal, but you won’t be able to benefit from Ohme’s smart charging capabilities.

• How do I sync my Ohme Home Pro with my energy tariff?
