Since 2021, Watson Fuels has been proud to the support the Future Ready Fuel campaign. Working with UKIFDA and OFTEC, we’ve been trialling a new renewable liquid fuel called HVO, to prove its viability as low-carbon replacement for kerosene.
The trials have been successful. HVO offers as a drop-in replacement that offers an 88% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, without needing to make any expensive or wide-ranging changes to heating systems or the fabric of homes. The campaign has now reached a crucial stage. The government’s Energy Bill is moving through Parliament, and will set out how homes like yours will transition to greener heating systems in the years to come.
Representing his constituents in Cornwall – home to a number of homes trialling HVO for heating – George Eustice MP has suggested some important amendments to the bill, which would give oil heated homes the option of switching to renewable liquid fuel as a means to decarbonise.
We invite owners of oil-heated properties to visit the Future Ready Fuel website to learn more about the proposed Energy Bill amendment, and how they might be able to get involved and lend their support. Many customers are also writing to their local MPs, and templated letters are available on the Future Ready Fuel website†.
